Little Gothic Horrors is hosting the May Monster Madness Blog Party this year. The words May, Madness and Party definitely run true in this family. In addition to all the normal May activities like the Norwegian Constitution day, school meetings, exams, and family trips, all three children have birthdays. So May is easily summed up as Party Madness, but alas there were no monsters this year. So instead I give you the recipe for my Halloween-cookies, which I seem to have forgotten to post about previously.
These cookies are perfect for the all the chocoholics out there. I found the original recipe here, but have modified it slightly:
1 l flour
3 dl cocoa
1,5 tbsp vanilla sugar
1,5 tbsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
350 g butter
350-450 g sugar
3 eggs
Extra cocoa for baking.
Cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Using only 350 g sugar will make the cookies bitter-sweet. Add more sugar if you prefer sweet cookies, or are serving them to children. Add the eggs one at the time.
Sift the dry ingredients together, and gradually add to the dough.
Divide the dough into four parts, wrap them in plastic foil and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Roll the dough flat with a rolling pin. Use the extra cocoa to flour the surface so it dosen’t stick. If the dough starts to get sticky, just put it back in he fridge for a while. I like to roll my cookies pretty thick, but experiment and see what you like best. Use your most monstrous cookie cutters to cut out ghoulish shapes. The cookies only rise a little, so you can put them close together on the baking sheet.
Back at 190 degrees C for 7-8 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack, or eat them warm with ice cold milk. Then you can decorate them, if you wish.
This recipe makes 6-7 sheets of cookies, but we’ve never had a problem with finishing them off.
Jeg har tidligere lagt ut oppskriften på norsk her.
